Thursday 26th June 2014 (old journal edit as it's simpler to do rather than copy/pasting so much stuff from previous ones).
I had been without my home broadband for a few weeks and was getting by through accessing the internet on my cellphone - not an ideal way to manage groups on DA. It's been a long ordeal involving a thunder/lightning storm, several calls to Orange, a new router, a new phone, a BT engineer, and my basically needing to move all the computer equipment to the other side of my bedtoom where the phone socket is (but no power). Anyway, it's all sorted Carole's techno talk: 'filter thingy', 'Adaptor-doodah that connects the phone cable and other thingies and acts as an extension lead to plug things into', ... is it any wonder the Indian lady from Orange was losing her patience with me?
And even more wonderful, I got a DD yesterday for 'A Widow's Weeds'!!! I am so heartened and deeply touched. It is a work that meant a lot to me when I was working on it and it's a work which seemed overlooked whenever I exhibited it in real life (people seem to rate 'Little Red Riding Hood' and other less detailed works of mine more highly). So this DD means a great deal to me. Thank you so much to NebelelfeNaemy for suggesting it, and for jane-beata for picking it as a DD. And many thanks to everyone who faved and commented, I hope to respond to all the comments in due course
Swindon Open Studios is happening again in September and I hope to be taking part. I sent off a cheque with my registration and now I have my fingers crossed the cheque has been processed ok ... my cashflow issues are another story A lesson in not forgetting a lot of annual subscriptions (like Norton Anti Virus renewal) hit the bank account in June! Thankfully, it's payday tomorrow

My 'Little Red Riding Hood' deviation is available as a print through ArtistsForCharity & through my own account, it will be restored exclusively as print to Artistsforcharity once someone begins managing that account again. I've contacted several people about that neglected charity account, but as yet, nobody has bothered to reply.

Hi! ... It's me again
Hi all! I still log in several times a week to do my duties on the four groups that I admin for ... well, run basically as all the other admins are no longer available. Three of my groups are traditional art groups for graphite pencil art - yes, I must be very antiquated to celebrate this art form so ardently in three groups. Each group has their submission rules and keeping up standards is important. I recently was expected to evaluate a submission that I couldn't even see as the artist had set it so that you have to subscribe to view it! Flipping cheek, I thought - I'm not paying to view his work! And I left a PRIVATE rude comment for him with an implied swear word with several letters missing. I was cross and unnecessarily rude. In hindsight, my reaction was too strong and I'm sorry for that. Anyway, he left a note on my page informing me that he was reporting me and going to get me banned. After all my many years on deviantART and fairly behaving myself most of the time, it
Guess who? Sorry for being a stranger
Just a little something to explain why I've not been so active, or rather, visibly active. I have still been trying to keep up my admin duties on my four groups (but not as often as I should). My son, Sean, died 8th September 2017 and the grieving process has been very hard - I've found it difficult to do the things that brought me joy in life, such as creating my art. My landline packed up around the same time as I lost my son, meaning I lost my broadband at the same time. I carried on paying for both services just because I didn't want to let anyone into my house, including engineers to fix the faults. I've been just coasting since then. On Friday 13th August (this year), I was made redundant and this has been a bit of a wake up call on me. Yep - I've let those BT engineers in and bugged the hell out of some very helpful advisors at EE until I got my broadband sorted. It's been a stressful couple of weeks wondering how to get it all sorted in time for online job interviews. I've
I'm back, after being hacked!
What a nightmare! Somehow, deviantart allowed a hacker to change the email address associated with my account, and then the hacker was able to request a new password ... and before I could do anything to stop it, I had lost my account to a hacker.
It took almost a week to prove my identity and to get my account back. It was fortunate that I had removed my debit card details following my last membership subscription fiasco. The hacker stole my accrued points from me, DA have refunded this. I am relieved to believe this is the extent of the damage done, nothing else seems untoward.
Some sadder news, my son is dying. He has a large brain-stem
Art feature and stuff ...
... Or, what have I been up to? And an art feature
Firstly, I'm rather challenged when it comes to CSS, journal skins, etc. and I couldn't change the colour of the text (I tried). Thanks to AtraLunaDesign (https://www.deviantart.com/atralunadesign) for the skin. Here's an image of mine to brighten things up a bit (before we hit all that text).
At the beginning of last year, I became very burnt out, mainly through the stresses of my job and I was at an all-time low. After a few weeks, my GP prescribed antidepressants, which I'm still taking. I'm fairly relaxed now, but these meds have blocked my ability to create my pencil art. I had two modest commissions last year, one I've
