I thought I'd post this while there is plenty of white space and before I clutter things up with my planned busy amount of detail. :)

(awaiting permission for use of the other flowers, at the moment they are generic and will not be finished until I have the go ahead).
I plan to fill the background with lots of flowers :)

You know, cleaned up I think this would be lovely just as is - it's so simple and effective with lots of impact!

Thanks Anna. I posted this at this stage while the composition looked simple, and before I was about to go overboard on it filling the page with flowers. I think I'd produce more artworks if I were not so determined to have lots of detail

But the more detailed one is uber-excellent in its own right. You have TWO excellent artworks there instead of just the final one!

Thanks Edie. I think we spend so much time with our other commitments on DA that we often don't have time to check out each other's works :)

What a beautiful drawing I liked the theme of butterflies. I also did a similar design element as the most used more in the background :)

From a look and comment what you think my drawing

Another beauty, can I ask what size your original pieces are? I am aspiring to reach your standard and any advice would be greatly appreciated, your work is amazing and inspiring. x

This one is A3 sized (29.7 x 22 cms). I some times work on A2 sized Bristol Board as well. The larger size allows me to capture more detail. I love the smooth surface of Bristol Board and it can take a lot of punishment from the eraser, and it's great to work upon when I'm building up layers of shading.
Having a good range of pencils is important too. I use Derwent Graphic Studio pencils. I find the pencils ranging from H-6H are excelent for building up light shading on faces, and I use the B-pencils to capture the much darker areas.

Many thanks for your comment.
