FEATURE CHALLENGE WITH A TWIST
A number of artists on my watchlist have been doing a marvellous job in their journals promoting artists whose works have received fewer than ten favourites. I received a sweet comment today from a deviant named Michelle, and she suggested my work deserved more favs - that comment really made me grin, and I thought how I was the last person to deserve more favs in light of my recently getting a DD.
So I've decided to do my own version of the under ten-favs feature (but with a difference) and I'd like to challenge others to try this (it will mean a bit of work, but it's fun). If you accept this challenge, please note me with a link to your journal, and there will be a prize for the one I like the most.
The challenge is to create a story, but also to add thumbnails of images to illustrate your story; and of course, to pick images which have received under ten favs.
Please also check out this feature response by
And please check out this great response by
And we've another amazing feature story to check out by
Well done all of you who have responded to the challenge so far. I think I'll give this another week before I decide on prizes (or I could let the winner be decide by a poll).
Also, there is a new group to check out here: [link] tried to put up their avatar, but there's another group with the identicle name .... I think I need to wake up a bit to work out how to do the avatar for the new group. Lol
Ah! I think The first letter might be a zero, so I'll try again (fingers crossed)
The group looks to give art with less than 100 favs a bit more exposure, & helps to bring artists a bit more of the attention they deserve.
If you wish, you can check out the other group also
Haha - I came across this while moving some of my favs into folders [I'm not seeking support really, but it was most sweet of the friend who made it]

My story begins with an image by Michelle, the deviant who inspired me to get a feature back into my journal [I used to do features regularly in the past]

The Songbird
Once upon a time, there was a little house on the lake, deep in the woods,

Inside that little house, there lived a wicked witch

Nobody would come to visit the wicked witch and she became very lonely, her only company was one small caged bird.
Every morning, the little bird would sing so plaintively, and she would sing of her wish to be free; her song would touch the witch's cruel heart
The witch knew how much her songbird longed to be free, but she couldn't bear the thought of losing the bird and finding herself all alone, so each day she would tell her bird, 'Perhaps tomorrow, I may let you go'.
Then one day, a traveler came to the little house.

When the traveler removed his hood, the witch could see that he was a handsome man

And at once, the witch knew she did not want him to leave. For such a long time, she had neglected the craft of dark magic and had forgotten all of the special spells which would have forced him to stay with her: there was nothing she could do to make him stay.

At last, she begged him not to leave her. The handsome stranger turned to her and said, 'I will stay, but only if you will give up your most precious possession.'
The witch offered him a chest full of wondrous treasures

but the man refused it, saying, 'In your heart, you know this is not your most precious possession.'
The witch walked over to the birdcage and thought her heart might break as she opened the cage and held her songbird in her hand

And as the bird took flight, an amazing thing happened, the bird was transformed into a beautiful maiden.

Immediately, the handsome man and the maiden embraced and it was clear they had been long-parted lovers.

The witch felt confused and she reminded the man how he had promised to stay with her. He said he would keep his word, but first would tell her how he had lost his sweetheart long ago when a witch had captured her and transformed her into a bird.
The wicked witch felt such remorse

and she humbly told the lovers they were free to go.
The next morning, the witch awoke to hear the most wonderful sound of birds singing

For many years, there had been no birds or wildlife in her part of the woods, but now, all the creatures had returned. And she heard birdsong every morning, for the rest of her days.
